Biography

Jonathan was born in Aylesford in 1966. 

After attending local state schools his first job was as a fruit picker on Kent farms. 

He then completed a two year course in social care and worked as a care assistant for adults with learning disabilities. Jonathan later returned to college and qualified as a social worker in 1990. 

During his time with Kent county council Jonathan worked in child protection, adoption, fostering and children leaving care. Jonathan became local councillor in 1993 representing the areas of Luton and Wayfield in Chatham on Rochester City Council. In 1997 Jonathan became the MP for Chatham and Aylesford. 

Married with two school age children, the family live in Snodland.
